The Strathcona Hotel

Introduction & Location

The Strathcona Hotel, located in downtown Victoria, on the corner of Douglas and Courtney Streets, has been family-owned and operated since 1946. The Strathcona Hotel is truly a unique Victorian landmark. This historic downtown hotel offers some of the most unique activities in Victoria both in its location within the downtown core and the attractions in the building itself. Hotel accommodations are reasonably priced for a downtown Victoria hotel.

Accommodations

There is a wide selection of recently remodeled rooms at competitive rates and special packages for groups, tours and corporate travelers. All the amenities you need to make your stay truly memorable are at the Strathcona. 

Room configurations consist of 1 Queen, 2 Twins, 1 Double and 1 Twin, or 2 Queens (some with a Double sofa bed, max 4 persons per room). Continental Breakfast is included with your stay.

Dining & Entertainment

• Big Bad John's - "The Original Hillbilly Bar" - a local legend here in Victoria with a reputation that has been carried the world over by travelers for nearly 50 years now. This one of a kind bar holds the first license to serve ever issued in British Columbia and is still going strong. Complete with tree stump tables and burlap seats you can enjoy a cold draft and peanuts while reading from the many goodwill messages our visitors have left over the decades, or write your own. You might even find one from someone you know.
• The Clubhouse - The newest addition to "Victoria's Entertainment Centre" is the CLUBHOUSE experience the privileges, savour the cuisine. Lunch, dinner or late night our menu is sure to please. Enjoy our great selection of wines and our large selection of premium single malt and blended Scotches, or try a "Clubhouse martini". All this and more at the Strathcona Hotel.
• The Games Room - Billiards, darts, and other games of skill and cunning await you in The Games Rooms. You don't need to be a pool shark to enjoy yourself, chat, play a game and make new friends. Or sample some of the best in local and international brews and spirits. Available for dart or pool league play, tournaments, and private parties.
• The Roof - is a truly unique experience not to be missed. Relax in the sun while enjoying a wide selection of lunch or dinner items from our open air barbecue grill, or a refreshing beverage. Once you've been to The Roof you'll know that you have made it to the top! This however is not just another patio, The Roof is host to the world's only rooftop beach volleyball courts too. Available for private bookings for you and your friends or tournament play, our courts are open 7 days a week from morning `till 11:00 pm. So if you can't make it to the beach let us bring the beach to you, contact one of our helpful staff members to plan your next day of fun in the sun.
• The Sticky Wicket Pub - Victoria's premier entertainment destination. From our family dining area to one of our many licensed areas. Whether you're looking for fun in the sun on The Roof or the underground dance and club beats of Legends. You can watch the big game in The Games Room or play your own big game there or on our rooftop volleyball courts. The Sticky Wicket has something for everyone. There is more to The Sticky Wicket than fun though. We can help you make your next business meeting or private function a success also. The Strathcona Hotel can provide banquet, meeting and event facilities tailored to any need business or pleasure, from an intimate corporate gathering to a fully hosted unique event for 1200.
